Cultured Hooligans — Returns & Refund Policy

At Cultured Hooligans, we want you to be happy with your purchase. If you’ve changed your mind about an item, we offer a 7-day return period from the date your order is delivered, subject to the conditions below.

1. Change-of-Mind Returns

You may request a return within 7 calendar days of receiving your order.

To qualify for a change-of-mind return, the item must:

  • Be unworn and unused
  • Be in its original condition
  • Have all original tags and labels attached
  • Not have been washed, altered, damaged or marked
  • Be returned in suitable original packaging where reasonably possible

Items that show signs of wear, washing, damage, stains, odours or alteration may not qualify for a change-of-mind return.

After the 7-day return period has passed, Cultured Hooligans will not accept change-of-mind returns.

2. Return Shipping

For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the item to Cultured Hooligans.

We recommend using a tracked courier service, as Cultured Hooligans cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged while being returned by the customer.

3. Exchanges

If you ordered the incorrect size, you may request an exchange within 7 calendar days of delivery, provided the item meets the return conditions above.

Exchanges are subject to stock availability. If the requested size is unavailable, a refund may be offered instead.

The customer is responsible for applicable return and reshipping costs for change-of-mind or sizing exchanges.

4. Incorrect or Damaged Items

If you receive an incorrect item, or your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Please provide your order number and photographs of the item and packaging where applicable. We will assess the issue and, where appropriate, arrange a replacement or refund at no additional cost to you.

5. Defective or Faulty Items

Cultured Hooligans stands behind the quality of its products.

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

Where goods are defective or fail to meet the quality and durability requirements applicable under the CPA, the statutory remedies and applicable time periods will apply. Section 56 provides an implied warranty of quality and, in qualifying circumstances, allows a consumer to return goods within six months of delivery and choose a repair, replacement or refund.

This statutory protection is separate from our 7-day change-of-mind return policy.

Damage caused by misuse, negligence, improper care, accidents, normal wear and tear, or alterations to the garment may not constitute a manufacturing defect.

6. Refunds

Once a returned item has been received and inspected, we will confirm whether the return qualifies for a refund.

Approved refunds will generally be processed to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being approved. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to reflect the funds.

Original shipping fees for change-of-mind returns are non-refundable.

7. Items Purchased on Sale

Sale items are eligible for returns and exchanges under the same conditions as regular-priced items, unless otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

Nothing in this policy excludes a consumer's statutory rights in respect of defective, unsafe or otherwise non-compliant goods.

8. How to Request a Return

To request a return, contact Cultured Hooligans Customer Support with:

  • Your order number
  • The item you wish to return
  • The reason for the return
  • Photographs of the item where applicable

Return requests must be submitted within the applicable return period.

Important: This policy is intended to operate alongside the South African Consumer Protection Act and does not attempt to contract out of rights that cannot legally be excluded. The CPA specifically provides that statutory return rights are additional to other rights available to consumers.

I'd use this version rather than simply saying "no returns after 7 days". That phrase on its own could make the policy look like Cultured Hooligans is trying to exclude the CPA's six-month defective-goods protection.

For the website, you can still prominently state:

Changed your mind? You have 7 days from delivery to request a return, provided your item is unworn, unused and in its original condition. Statutory consumer rights for defective or non-compliant goods remain unaffected.
